We moved to Canada on March 1st, 2010. The process took us around two years to complete. Many people have asked me how we did the process. We looked for different options before making the decision of moving from Venezuela. We gather lots of information about Australia and Canada. At the end, the best option for us was Canada. Why we chose Canada? different reasons:
We did the whole process with Sedav. This was back in 2007 and many things probably have changed since then. I have added a link to their website so you can check it out. There are many companies doing immigration services. I just put Sedav here for you to know about them, feel free to check other options. However, please be very careful because there are many scammers around. BE CAREFUL and choose wisely. My wife was the main applicant so, since we did the process through Quebec, she took French classes every week. She actually quit her job to do it. We had to face an interview in French and we got ready for it. After we did the interview, we got our Permanent Resident Card and we were ready to move to Canada to start a new life. My wife is an Engineer, if you are one, please check this website that could be useful for you. I hold an FAA ATPL so I did the conversion to Canadian ATPL. Again, a few things have changed since I did it. Please check the Transport Canada website for more information. I also checked the following website which is very useful. Also, the following website offers good material and information. I got my first job after two months after moving. I got an angel in Canada who helped me a lot, God put him in my way, my friend Stephen Michell. I met him in Florida one year before moving to Canada and Stephen kept his word of helping me to find a job. Making contacts is very important. I used to fly to the States very often and to each airport I went to I was always looking for a Canadian registered airplane to hand a resume to the pilots. Stephen was one of those pilots. He helped me. You also could find your angel. Life in Canada is not easy. I do not think it is easy to start a new life in any country. However, Canada gave us what we were looking for: hope and peace. Canadian society is great, at least for me. They make you feel like one more Canadian. If you see my pictures post you can find how I progressed in my career, including Canada. I love Canada, I am a proud Canadian citizen. I have no regrets at all about moving to Canada. It is by far the best country on earth. If you want to move to Canada, get ready for it. Get ready to work hard and start over. Do it. It is totally worth it. |
